Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to strengthen its air defences. The first three producers have begun production, with 11 more getting ready to establish production lines, Ukrainian military officials announced on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Battlefield Situations

These UAVs utilize a domestically developed system known as “Octopus” designed to intercept Iranian-made drones. The system underwent testing in actual battle and proved successful “at night, amid electronic warfare and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of producing as many as 1,000 interceptors daily.

Latest Attack on Kyiv Characterized as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president described Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and wicked” after six individuals were killed and dozens wounded in a wave of nocturnal attacks throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in the capital shortly after midnight on Friday, with Shahed drones soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

Zelenskyy reported the country was hit by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. The deceased were inside their residences in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Numerous of additional structures sustained damage, among them the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

International Objection After Embassy Damage

Azerbaijan said it issued a strong protest to Moscow's diplomatic representative on Friday following the embassy damage. Moscow's military have been launching 200 to 250 glide bombs per day, with last month’s average daily usage standing at about 170, according to defence ministry data.

Kyiv's Strikes Focus on Russian Energy Infrastructure

Moscow's Black Sea port of the port city temporarily suspended oil exports this past Friday – representing two percent of worldwide oil production – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff said its military had launched domestically produced missiles and used multiple kinds of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to diminish the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukraine separately struck an oil refinery in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels during the night.

Global Sanctions Affect Moscow's Oil Producer

The number two oil producer Lukoil said this past Friday it has been in talks with potential buyers regarding its foreign assets after last month’s sanctions from the UK and the US and failure of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal are to be disclosed after the final agreements have been reached and required authorizations are secured,” the company commented.

Ukrainian President Schedules Diplomatic Trip to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the city of Madrid, Madrid, on Tuesday to confer with parliament members a day after his trip to France, the chamber of deputies announced. Zelenskyy will convene with deputies from both chambers of the legislature throughout his stay, the Spanish statement confirmed.
