Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical Tabletop Role-Playing Game
The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a tabletop RPG that explores the series' apocalyptic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.
"This project will bring the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the table, offering fans a new way to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," reads an announcement.
Initial offerings are set to feature a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several premium versions.
Exploring The Division's Dystopian World
In this universe, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, plunging the United States into chaos. As the crisis escalates, society crumbles and violent factions emerge, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To restore law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. This is where the agents come in.
Work on the RPG has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is reportedly complete. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider audience, particularly in the United States. Production is slated to begin right after the campaign, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.
A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System
A preview at the game's rules confirms it uses 10-sided dice predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and strategic approach. Agents leverage skills or traits to assemble small dice pools, usually between one and five d10s.
- Instead of adding results together, players choose a single “result die” from the group.
- This die is then measured against a target difficulty.
- Achieving a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.
Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Situational Insight
Battles prioritize placement and environmental awareness, mirroring the video games. Elements like taking cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This mechanic seems built to reward coordination and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.
A Novel Wound System
The way health is tracked introduces a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage reduces their capabilities by lowering the number of d10s.
- At zero health, an agent is downed, but they’re not knocked out.
- They can still crawl and perform restricted acts, simulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
- Any agent in this state must roll on a injury chart, risking lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.
An Introductory Scenario
A free introductory rulebook is promised soon. It includes a ready-to-play starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, players lead the search for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an attack by the notorious Rikers gang, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. Further information and the complete product lineup will be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
