Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the presidential home.

He added that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Tragic Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Gatherings across the state have been held in their remembrance.

Presidential Call

The president explained he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump addressed journalists. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”

Public Response

Mourners assembled over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to support policing efforts in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always ready to help others.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Policy Revisions

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The incident prompted the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and cease granting visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey said on television.

Attorney general Bondi told the program that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
