Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for questions to be raised about his future following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the club's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I sense the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period like this with performances this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
