Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland were left experiencing outages on the start of the week after intense storm systems passed over the region, producing powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.

Substantial Hailstones and Broad Destruction

Residents observed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. Meteorological experts confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews deployed to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Weather Woes

Simultaneously, around one thousand residents in Victoria also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in 18 months.

Rescue organizations received nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

At one point on yesterday, more than twenty-eight thousand energy customers in the state were lacking electricity.

Climate Outlook

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this coming days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both regions.

Medical authorities alerted that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
